Procedures To Refacing Kitchen Cabinets

You finally have the home of your dreams but there is still one project to tackle before it is complete and that is Refacing Kitchen Cabinets.  Even the most unskilled craft person can accomplish this job and you do not have to hire it out for a professional to charge you for an easy fix it yourself job. Follow a few simple steps and you will completely change around your kitchen in no time.
The first step to Refacing Kitchen Cabinets is that everything must come apart. It may sound tedious and you may try to cut corners by keeping everything hinged but it is not worth it in the end. To do the job completely and accurately the first time and make it look like a professional you need to remove everything.

The next step in the process is to thoroughly clean the surfaces that you plan on working, sounds easy so far right? All you have to do is grab a big utility sponge a bucket of soapy water and start cleaning. You have more steps involved so do not worry about every nook and cranny but a deep clean over the surface is what is needed.

The third step in the process is to either spray a degrease product on a rag and rub down the cabinets or spray directly onto the cabinet itself and let it sit for whatever the directions recommend on the product. Make sure though that you have tried a test area that will not be seen in case the product is not right for your type of wood.

What could be the last step is to paint your cabinets. Depending on the type of paint that you went with and the finish that you are looking for you may need a type of stain over the final coat. Make sure that each coat is completely dry before applying again. Also a key to painting is to do the raised wood first and then apply to the flat surfaces.

Have the desired look? It is an easy fix if the paint is not what you had in mind. Start small and once you have decided you are happy with the outcome then finish the rest of the kitchen cabinets.

Refacing Kitchen Cabinets is really a simple process. It can be a little time consuming with all the hardware changes and painting time but it will be well worth the time and money investment to have a new kitchen.
